The first post is the hardest..

After much procrastination, I'm finally writing my first post for my blog about life in Australia, my future posts will hopefully be a bit faster in the making!

A lot has already happened since leaving the Netherlands, so here's a quick review of the last four and a half months:
First of all Lenise and I had a great cycling trip South-East Asia, from Saigon to Bangkok, here's a link to a photo slideshow of our trip: http://s453.photobucket.com/albums/qq255/nicovanruth/Cycling%20trip%202008/?albumview=slideshow

After that we got held up in Bangkok for 8 days, due to the political protests, after which we arrived in Sydney on December 6th. The rest of December we spent in Salamander Bay, staying with Lenise's parents, Patricia and Dennis; plenty of beach-time to recover from our cycling trip!
Christmas was great (thanks for pressies Santa!), but at the start of the new year it was time to head to our final destination: Melbourne!
We travelled by car, so we could take all of Lenise's old stuff, and we took in some awesome sights on the way, like the dog on the tuckerbox in Gundagai! (left picture) On the 4th of January we arrived in Melbourne, where we stayed in St. Kilda for the first couple of months. We had to start looking for jobs, but there was also plenty of time to enjoy Melbourne summer, like at the Australian Open, where we saw Tsonga and Venus Williams (right picture), and the Dutch festival at Springvale (left picture).
Lenise started work quite quickly, working for the same company as when we were in Australia 5 years ago, but I took a bit longer; I only started work 12 days ago, at a packaging company called Aperio.
We also moved to an appartment in Richmond 3 weeks ago, after our two month sublet in St. Kilda was over.
That's a short overview of what happened over the southern hemisphere summer, which ended today with a beautiful and sunny 35 degree day! Oh, and I also picked up our new car today (picture below), I love it already!
Until the next post!
